Introduction Equine related crime is low in West Yorkshire and the police are keen to keep it this way. They operate a Horse Watch scheme throughout the region in order to help ensure that horses, vehicles and equipment are kept safe.
The Horse Watch scheme allows members to:
- Assist in reducing the opportunity for equine related crime to occur
- Develop an awareness of measures that may prevent crime at their stables/yards
- Become part of a ‘community’ network receiving and relaying pertinent information
- Share ‘good practice’ across West Yorkshire
Each area of West Yorkshire has a Horse Watch Liaison Officer assigned to help people establish a Horse Watch scheme. The liaison officer will supply leaflets and stickers, and will be the police link to help support the scheme.
See the West Yorkshire Police Horse Watch pages for further information.
